Basic Function

Backflow devices operate as simple one way valves that will close when the water pressure on one side drops.

In potable water systems this function is to prevent contaminates from entering the main water supply from unknown sources. If this were to happen an entire water system would need to be cleaned and purged. This is the reason that all installed backflow prevention devices require annual testing.
